Professor Dr. Angshuman Bhattacharya – Founder & Director, Mission Smile Dental Hospital
Professor Dr. Angshuman Bhattacharya completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the renowned Manipal College of Dental Sciences. He went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi, one of India’s highest centres of medical excellence.
To further refine his expertise, he completed his Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Orthodontics under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
Dr. Angshuman has served for many years as a Professor of Orthodontics, Post-Graduate Instructor, and PG Guide at the Buddha Institute of Dental Sciences, Patna, training numerous orthodontists across the country. He is a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) and an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). He has also had the rare honour of being a Senior Consultant Orthodontist to the Royal Family of Bhutan.
Over the past two decades, he has been associated as a Senior Consultant with leading healthcare institutions including Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata, and Jigme Dorji Wangchuk National Referral Hospital, Thimphu, Bhutan. He is presently a Senior Consultant Orthodontist at Manipal Hospitals, Kolkata, in addition to consulting at several reputed multi-specialty dental centres in the city.
Dr. Angshuman is the Founder and Director of Mission Smile Dental Hospital, Kolkata, with branches in Ballygungeand Girish Park. Today, Mission Smile is one of the largest private dental hospitals in Eastern India, equipped with 6-chair individual operatories, a full-fledged in-house Orthodontic Laboratory, and advanced digital dentistry facilities.
A pioneer of technology integration, Dr. Angshuman introduced CBCT (Cone Beam CT) imaging to Kolkata over a decade ago. He founded Pioneer Scans, a dedicated Dental Imaging Centre, which expanded to five centres across Kolkata in 2025 and continues to grow rapidly. He is also the innovator behind Denlife, India’s first organised Medical Emergency Kit for dental clinics, now used in reputed hospitals and dental practices across the country.
